History

The MIT Women's Rugby Football Club was formed in the spring of 1977. At this time the only competition were the local clubs such as Portland and Beantown, and just a few other collegiate teams. Since then the MIT club has continued to grow in strength, with a current roster of approximately twenty players. In 2009, the team took home the NERFU Division III national championship trophy and has remained competitive in recent years, winning Beantown's 2012 Division III tournament, and making it all the way to the New England Wide Collegiate Rugby Conference Regional Championships that fall. MIT's Prom Dress Tournament has also become famous in the area, drawing 10 teams to participate last year.
